The expert will provide technical assistance to Expertise France in the planning, specification, procurement support, installation supervision, testing, and commissioning of biomedical equipment for the rehabilitation of Adwa and Abala Hospitals.
The consultant will support the assessment of medical equipment needs, development of technical specifications, participation in procurement evaluations, supervision of equipment installation and commissioning, and delivery of capacity-building activities for hospital biomedical staff. The assignment aims to ensure that biomedical equipment is selected, installed, and operated in accordance with national regulations and international standards.
The assignment is part of the hospital rehabilitation project implemented by Expertise France to support the strengthening of healthcare infrastructure and medical services in Ethiopia.
The project focuses on the rehabilitation and upgrading of Adwa and Abala Hospitals, including the assessment, procurement, installation, and operationalization of essential medical equipment. The intervention aims to improve the functionality, safety, and sustainability of healthcare services through enhanced biomedical systems and strengthened technical capacity of hospital staff.
The consultant should meet the following requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Healthcare Technology Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum 8–10 years of professional experience in medical equipment planning, procurement support, installation supervision, and maintenance in hospital environments.
• Proven experience in hospital infrastructure or medical equipment rehabilitation projects.
• Strong knowledge of biomedical equipment standards and regulations (e.g., ISO, IEC, WHO guidelines).
• Experience working with the Ethiopia Ministry of Health or similar public health institutions is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience working with international organizations or donor-funded projects is an asset.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and reporting skills.
• The assignment is expected to cover a maximum of 150 working days between the contract signature date and 31 December 2027.
• The expert will work in close coordination with the Expertise France project team, the Ministry of Health, hospital management teams, and engineering consultants involved in the rehabilitation works.
• Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview. Financial conditions will be negotiated with the candidate ranked first following the technical evaluation.
