In the framework of the EUP2P Outreach project on the Arms Trade Treaty, Expertise France is looking to hire an expert in the role of Community Manager in charge of its expert community platform, with an interest in learning about the European Union’s approach to conventional arms trade control, and non-proliferation of weapons.
The main objectives of the EU P2P Project are to promote the effective implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) and work towards its universal adoption. In order to achieve these objectives, the EU project aims to:
(a) Build and/or develop capacity and expertise for the implementation of the ATT in the beneficiary countries by offering legal assistance and training of licensing and enforcement officials;
(b) Engage in dialogue with other countries, including non-Parties to the ATT, in order to contribute to the universalization of the Treaty.
The EUP2P Community platform targets project beneficiaries from partner countries, as well as from countries requesting assistance to implement the ATT. Particular effort will be made to engage with countries that are not currently party to the ATT. The Community Manager will play a pivotal role in operationalizing the platform, facilitating dialogue among EUP2P experts, strengthen workflows, and ensuring visibility of project results.
The Community Manager, under the supervision of the Technical Director and the Project Manager, will be responsible for:
• Managing and sustaining the EUP2P Platform ;
• Creating articles and other digital content to promote the EU P2P activities and events on topics related to strategic trade and arms control;
• Uploading, listing and managing documents in the Community platform Library;
• Managing and moderating the workflows of the platform classrooms and working groups;
• Liaising with and supporting the Train the Trainers facilitators and creating the EUP2P Train the Trainers Academy;
• Managing online sessions for activities organized on the EUP2P Platform;
• Validating and managing expert profiles in the Platform Directory to feed the Experts Roster;
• Creating website FAQs and providing user support;
• Moderating and/or managing alerts received on the EUP2P Platform chats;
• Updating relevant policies on project activities with Expertise France’s IT Department;
• Uploading photos and videos from activities and events organized by EUP2P projects;
• Liaising with partner countries to coordinate communication around EUP2P project activities;
• Creating, consolidating and sending out EUP2P newsletters;
• Improving visibility of the EUP2P projects by coordinating with staff working on other projects implemented by Expertise France;
• Improving project visibility by coordinating with other European and International initiatives;
• Supporting the Project Manager and the Technical Director in the consolidation of internal documents and external reports to improve visibility and transparency;
• Updating and harmonizing the EUP2P logos and templates in line with the visibility guidelines of the European Union;
• Collecting and consolidating EUP2P project results from previous and current project phases for communication and capitalization purposes;
• Taking part in the weekly Project Management Team meetings (when required);
• Supporting the organization of P2P activities and events (when required);
• Any other tasks agreed upon with the Project Manager and the Technical Director
Academic background:
Master’s degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, digital content creation, social sciences or related fields.
Required experience and skills:
• At least 2 years’ professional experience
• Knowledge of social media and/or web management;
• Experience in digital community management;
• Fluency in English and French, both spoken and written;
• Strong inter-personal skills;
Desired experience and skills:
• Basic knowledge of EU security policies and cooperation, the Arms Trade Treaty, export and strategic trade control, and a willingness to acquire knowledge in these fields;
• Intermediate graphic-design skills (Photoshop etc.);
• Experience with photography
• Working experience with the European Union
• Fluency in Spanish
The Community Manager should be available to travel to Paris, Brussels and other destinations to participate in events organized with EUP2P partner countries.
