Mission description
Description of the tasks to be assigned:
- Provide all requested document translation services (up to 2000 words per day)
- Support project activities that require interpretation services (consecutive, simultaneous or whispered).
- Availability to travel outside Amman to perform interpretation or translation tasks.
- Possibility of working remotely and translate documents received by email with short notice
- Support the project team in the provision of any other services related to translation/interpretation as part of his/her activities.
- Coordinate the hiring of interpreting equipment
- Possibility to recommend translators for extra tasks.
- Participate in meetings
Project or context description
This recruitment is part of the implementation of the "EU Support to Social Protection in Jordan" programme, funded by the European Union. The management of the component named "Support to CSOs and De-Institutionalisation with CSOs” is entrusted to Expertise France, the French international cooperation operator.
The overall objective (impact) of this global EU Action is to contribute to support social sector reforms and the development of an equitable and inclusive society in Jordan through the improvement and modernisation of the quality and performance of the social protection system.
The specific objectives of the component implemented by Expertise France are to reinforce the links between the Jordan Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) and the Civil Society Organisations/ Charities, strengthening these CSOs as actors in the development, service-delivery, monitoring and evaluation of social protection and to support their participation in quality social services for target beneficiaries.
To this end, the EU project will support several initiatives developed by Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) that fulfil the objectives of the programme through grants. The programme also aims to strengthen the capacities of the MoSD's directions in their work with CSOs. In addition, the MoSD's institutional partners, including the National Aid Fund (NAF), the Higher Council of People with Disabilities (HCPWD), the National Council of Family Affairs (NCFA), the Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW), Jordan Academia and Universities, will be involved as well.
For the implementation of this component, Expertise France is recruiting a translator/interpreter embedded into its project team in Jordan to perform any translation services of documents (from Arabic to English/ to English to Arabic) and to perform all interpretation services required in the project’s activities.

- Arabic mother tongue
- Bachelor in translation (+preferably postgraduate degree)
- Certified translator
- Professional experience in diplomacy, political representation, high-level dialogue interpreting
- Professional experience with Jordanian governmental bodies
- At least 5 years experience in translating professional documents
- Experience with European funded projects
- Moderation and public speaking skills
- Flexibility in working with urgent tasks
- Team spirit attitude
- Time management and multitasking skills
- Effective communication skills
- Efficiency in using C.A.T. tools
- Familiar with tele-interpreting
