Mission description

Expertise France is the French international technical assistance agency, created from the merger of the six main French public implementing agencies on 1 January 2015, to enhance capacities to mobilize technical expertise, making it possible to address the growing needs of emerging and developing countries more effectively. Under the joint supervision of the Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy, within the AFD Group, Expertise France aims at participating in French cooperation and development aid through a wide range of interventions in areas such as sustainable development, economic development, public finances, governance and human rights, social protection and employment, health, and issues of stability, safety and security.

Project or context description

Expertise France, with support from the European Union, is implementing an 24-month project that aims at empowering Civil Society and Media to foster community resilience and social cohesion. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to creating a more conducive environment for sustainable coexistence by strengthening civil societies and supporting independent media in advancing dialogue, mutual understanding, and collaboration across Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Israel, and the diaspora. The project responds to the need for inclusive, justice-oriented approaches that go beyond traditional models, which have often failed to address structural inequalities and entrenched power asymmetries.

 

As part of this projects, Expertise France will provide rapid and flexible financial support to a wide range of nonprofit organizations (partners) to implement initiatives that promote dialogue, reduce tensions, and foster mutual understanding within their communities and amongst different communities, in Israel and Palestine.

 

Expertise France – Jerusalem Office seeks to recruit a full-time professional Driver to support daily programmatic, administrative, and operational activities. The Driver will provide safe, reliable, and timely transportation services for staff, consultants, partners, and official visitors, in accordance with Expertise France policies, security procedures.

Required profile

Scope of work and responsibilities

  • Maintain a technical and administrative logbook for each vehicle (one tab/file per vehicle)
  • Track and monitor fuel consumption for each vehicle and refuel when needed.
  • Prepare and submit monthly vehicle reports to his/her Line Manager

·       Transport staff, consultants, and visitors as requested by management.

·       Ensure timely transport to meetings in accordance with schedules set by the secretariat

·       Plan routes in advance, considering traffic conditions and restrictions as advised by the DSO

·       Perform minor maintenance and basic repairs when necessary

·       Coordinate with garages or the leasing (rental) company for major repairs and periodic servicing including vehicle wash.

·       Ensure repair orders are signed and maintenance logs validated by his Line Manager

·       Archive all vehicle-related documentation

  • Maintain safe, smooth, and responsible driving in line with safety and security procedures

Additional Support Duties

  • Provide support to Logistics/ Security Manager.

·       Liaise with public and semi-public institutions (e.g., utility bill payments, monitoring deadlines, archiving invoices, vehicle registration and taxes)

Required Profile and Competences

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience
  • Strong safe and defensive driving skills
  • Ability to drive armored vehicles is an asset
  • Basic knowledge of automotive mechanics
  • Good knowledge of Jerusalem and surrounding areas
  • High level of reliability, discretion, and professionalism
  • Flexibility and availability to adapt to operational needs
  • Holder of a Jerusalem/Israeli ID.

Additional information

Duty Station:

The position is based in Jerusalem but requires regular travel to partner’s project sites in Jerusalem, the West Bank and Israel

Contract Duration:

The position is full-time under a fixed-term contract for an initial period of 11 months renewable subject to satisfactory performance, project funding, and organizational requirements,
