The Deputy Project Manager will serve as the operational and technical backbone of the project, working closely with the Project Manager (PM) and supporting the day-to-day implementation of all activities. This includes coordination of technical activities, and operational reporting, while overseeing the work of the project technical team, based in Luanda. The Deputy PM will also serve as acting Project Manager during periods of absence.

This job description is not exhaustive. Generally speaking, the project manager is responsible for ensuring that the project's contractual objectives are met, and for carrying out all the activities required to ensure that the project runs smoothly.
The solid waste management sector in Angola faces significant challenges, including insufficient waste collection services, lack of infrastructures, and limited enforcement of regulations. These challenges contribute to environmental degradation, public health risks, and inefficiencies in public services.
Funded by the European Union, the overall objective of this program is to improve solid waste management in Luanda and scale up circular economy initiatives. The project is composed of four Specific Objectives and implemented by a consortium of partners, including Expertise France, Camões instituto de cooperação e língua, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Fundación internacional y para iberoamérica de admón y políticas públicas (FIAP).
