Mission description

The Finance Assistant will be responsible of the following tasks:

Accountancy Management (60%)

•    Ensure that the accounting journals and cash flow journals of the projects in the match each other at the end of the month
•    Act as a focal point for Payment Orders preparation and signature (BAP)
•    Ensure that expenses are correctly recorded in the accounts: names, accounting codes, cost accounting codes, lettering, exchange rates, etc. during the month end accountancy closure
•    Maintain a sound status for the petty cash in the office and perform regular inventories to inform the line manager once a replenishment is needed
•    Review the list of payment orders for correct payment processing in the absence of the RAF
•    Participates, under the supervision of the RAF, in the closing of accounts, namely the monthly and annual closure which requires a tracking of the unclosed advances and prepaid expenses
•    Archive the monthly accountancy documentation as per Expertise France operating procedures 

Financial Management (30%)

•    Prepare and monitor financial follow-up according to Expertise France's established format of EF’s projects in Jordan
•    Support the RAF in the monthly check of the financial monitoring (expenditure allocation, consumption, forecasts, etc.) of projects in conjunction with project managers and recommend any corrective measure if needed
•    Support project managers in completing their monthly financial forecasts
•    In liaison with the RAF, prepare the sampling of the internal and external (donor) audits
•    Prepare monthly and semi-annual budgets for projects in conjunction with the RAF (initial budget, revised budget and landing forecasts)
•    Support if needed in coordinating the Financial Exercises of the agency including the Initial Financial Planning (BI), Revised Budget and Forecasting

Internal Control, Compliance & Quality Assurance (10%)

•    Implements internal control measures within projects (transmission of procedures, monitoring of their appropriation, participation in the improvement of operational practices in terms of financial accounting, etc.)
•    Ensures compliance with the accounting and financial document soft archiving policy

In view of the functions performed by the person concerned and the capacity-building work carried out within the Administration, Accounting and Finance division, this job description is not exhaustive.

Project or context description

Expertise France Country Direction in Jordan and Lebanon implements project in the field of Economic and Sustainable Development, Civil protection, Governance, Social Sectors, and support to civil society. 

The Support Service Unit in Jordan is currently composed of 5 persons. The finance and administrative assistant will be placed under the authority of the HR, Financer and administrative Manager.

Required profile

•    Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
•    Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration could be an advantage. Excellent command of the Office pack, in particular Excel and other office software;
•    Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally in a similar role within an international or non-profit organization.
•    Experience with audit processes and supporting audits is typically required.
•    Experience working with NSSF, income tax, and managing bank relations is an advantage. 
•    Sense of autonomy, initiative, flexibility 
•    Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic, French is an advantage.


•    Proficiency in office software.
•    Strong interpersonal skills and team collaboration.
